25. Tool Commercial – Day 4

Updates

  • Group 1 to 4 will make a presentation on Friday (March 21) and Group 5 to 8 will do on Monday (March 24). Each group will share some information about your commercial (e.g., your target audience and your tool)  and your tool commercial video.

Housekeeping

  1. Please complete this form to let me know your partner (if any) and your tool.
  2. You will receive your social media strategy plan result by Friday (March 7).
  3. This Friday is a project day. Please work on the project wherever you want.

PART I. Tell me your concerns!
As we don’t meet this Friday, today is the last day that we can discuss about your concerns regarding the project Tool Commercial. We need to discuss about:

  • Due date: March 17 (Monday)?
  • Rubric: Google Docs
  • Showcase schedule
  • Other concerns

PART II. Creating your informercial

  • Step 1. Forming a group
  • Step 2. Selecting one tool
  • Step 3. Thinking about how you will create a commercial
  • Step 4. Getting to know Jing (Or any other tools)
  • Step 5. Creating your informercial
  • Step 6. Adding your description

Create your infomercial. Using Jing (or any other tools), take us on a visual tour of your tool and tell us some of the things you thought about in Step 3 of this task. Some students create powerpoint slides to share, others just navigate through the tool as they talk about it. Please don’t conduct a “training session” – we don’t have to know all the ins and out of the tool. We just need to want to use it. It’s an informercial – sell the product!!

Please keep thinking about the following elements for creating your commercial. Those are what I am looking for in your commercial:
– Appealing to the audience (teachers) in a specific domain
– Addressing how the tool supports communication and collaboration in a classroom
– Understanding the media chosen
– Look & Feel (including humor; an eye-catching title; interaction with the audience, etc.)

Create a new page called “Tool Commercial” and add a brief description and a link to your informercial. Team members can add the same description. I will show you how to embed a video.
